Recap: MQC Black Girl Vision Board Party

MQC had a fun time joining a wonderful group of women from all over the world for our first Virtual Vision Party on Jan. 12. Women as far as New Zealand spent an evening with us to plan out 2023 goals. This event focused on our self-care activity card #23, Bring Your Vision to Life.

“Today is your opportunity to plan the tomorrow you want.”

The evening kicked off with intention setting led by MQC co-owner, Tianna. Then we discussed the purpose of a vision board and important components to consider such as timing, having a theme, and visual elements (e.g. photos, quotes, and mantras). Afterward we reflected to help guide us in creating our vision boards. These are the questions we reflected on:

  • What habits do you want to change?
  • What skills do you want to learn?
  • What values do you want to enhance?
  • What is one outcome you want out of this year?
  • What qualities do you want to adopt?
  • What do you need the most right now?
  • What are your biggest strengths?
  • What do you feel grateful for?
  • What energizes you?

Then the real fun part, creating our 2023 Vision Boards on Canva! Attendees had the option to choose from various themes or creating from scratch. Afterward we discussed and shared our vision boards, with MQC co-owner, Andrea, volunteering first.

It helps to not only visualize your goals but speak them into existence. It was cool to see how we took the vision board templates and made them our own to illustrate our collective goals. Women spoke about everything from striving to pay off debt, going vegan, finding love, and doing more pampering, to being a dominatrix! We’re here for it.

We thank everyone who took the time to join us for this event. If you weren’t able to join and still want to create a vision board, feel free to use one of our Canva templates. You must have a Canva account (you can do a free account).

We hope to see you at a future MQC event! Our next one is our in-person Black Girl Self Love Day on Saturday, Feb. 11 in Gaithersburg, Md.
